Have we really been able to meet their needs?

In order to grow into successful and productive members of society, people require a safe and healthy environment that can nurture their needs as they develop. According to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, human beings are born with a set of universal needs that must be fulfilled before they can reach their full potential.

Life Beyond Institutional Homes

The transition from childhood to adulthood and independence is often times challenging for children outside of parental care, which is why it is important to prepare them for life beyond the institution from a fairly young age. Since they lack the type of support that others would typically receive at home, their caregivers must be prepared to fill the gap. That entails providing them with moral support and guidance throughout their formative years, as well as the tangible support they need to become self-reliant later on in life.
